A source informed Reuters that the Ukrainian spy agency-backed "Blackjack" hacking group successfully deleted 20TB of data from M9 Telecom, massively disrupting their operations. Seemingly coming as a retaliation attack to the "largest telco cyber attack in history" on Ukrainian telco, Kyivstar, the attack on M9 Telecom shut down internet use for thousands in Moscow.
‘Predatory Sparrow’ Cyberattack Shuts Down 70% of Iran’s Gas Stations – December 19th
Threat actor group Gonjeshke Darande, which translates to “Predatory Sparrow” claimed the cyberattacks against Iranian petrol stations, rail networks, and steel factories, according to Iranian State Media. 'Predatory Sparrow', speculated to be linked to Israel, explains the attack to be in response to "the aggression of the Islamic Republic and its proxies in the region".
MongoDB’s Data Breach Confirmed – December 18th
MongoDB revealed a data breach exposing customer metadata and sensitive information in an email announcement to their customers. The email, alerting MongoDB's customers of the cyberattack, also informed customers to be aware of heightened phishing email risk due to the data breach, and to set up multi-factor authentication for their accounts as a phishing safety measure.
97% of Consumers Predict More Cyberattacks – November 15th
ThreatX revealed in their latest research that 97% of consumers expect more cyberattacks this coming year. The ThreatX research also indicates that 69% of consumers predict these cyberattacks to become more complex, while only 13% believe they will be protected from cyberattacks.
EU and Ukraine Partner to Boost Cybersecurity – November 14th
The European Union Agency for Cybersecurity (ENISA) signed a Working Agreement with Ukraine’s Administration of the State Service of Special Communications and Information Protection of Ukraine (SSSCIP) to boost cybersecurity efforts. The Working Agreement signed by ENISA and SSSCIP will focus on the EU supporting Ukraine in its efforts to protect itself from geopolitically-fueled cyber attacks from Russian threat actors through improving critical infrastructure, cybersecurity skills, and capacity building.

Terrorist group Hamas, which was responsible for the recent atrocities committed in Israel, is reported to be using the smartphones of dead and captured Israeli hostages as entry points to monitor Israeli citizens in preparation for forthcoming cyber-strikes on Israel.

According to Lloyds, a single well-orchestrated cyber strike breaching a financial services payments system could lead to losses of $1.1 trillion in the US alone, with global losses amounting to $3.5 trillion over a five-year period. Israel conflict spreads to cyberspace
Israel-based cybersecurity firm Check Point Software said that the company has tracked over 40 groups conducting attacks that overwhelmed and disrupted more than 80 websites starting with the day of the Hamas onslaught. These included government and media sites and have the appearance of a concerted cyber follow-up to the genocidal terrorist attacks that took place on the ground.
Taiwan hit by major cyber-espionage attack
A cyber-espionage campaign in the Pacific, directed principally at Taiwan, which took place in the Spring, has now come to light. According to cybersecurity company, Symantec, a large-scale program of cyber-enabled international espionage began in February 2023 and continued until at least May 2023.
