60% of Cybersecurity Professionals Considering Job Change – March 5th
Cybersecurity professionals are restless, with over 60% planning to switch jobs in the next year. A new study by IANS Research and Artico Search highlights career stagnation as a major reason, while salaries remain high across the industry. The report finds senior professionals are the most eager to leave, frustrated by limited growth opportunities. Specialists in cloud security, application security, and threat intelligence, however, continue to command the highest salaries.
Insider attacks rise by over 50 percent
Insider attacks, where staff either deliberately or accidently compromise an organization’s security, are rising steeply. According to Cybersecurity firm, Gurucul, almost half of organizations, 48 percent, report that insider attacks have become increasingly common over the last 12 months. Just over half, 51 percent, experienced six or more such attacks in the past year. Gurucul’s 2024 Insider Threat report identifies the major causes for the sudden spike in insider attacks: “The top three drivers behind the surge in insider attacks are complex IT environments (39 percent), the adoption of new technologies (37 percent), and inadequate security measures (33 percent).”
Cybercrime gets physical
Cyber-physical systems (CPS), such as operational technology (OT), the Internet of Things (IoT), building management systems (BMS) and connected media devices have now become a prime target for ransomware attacks. According to security firm, Claroty, cyber-physical attacks are now placing significant financial strain across organizations in several key sectors. Almost half of the respondents, 45 percent, to an independent survey commissioned by Claroty report financial losses of $500,000 or more over the last 12 months from cyber-attacks affecting CPS. Over a quarter, 27 percent, report losses of $1 million or more. “The most financially impacted sectors are chemical manufacturing, power and energy, and mining and materials, with 54-55 percent of respondents in each sector reporting more than $500,000 in losses from incidents in the last 12 months,” says the report, The Global State of CPS Security 2024.
55% of Organizations Plan to Use AI to Enhance Security – April 4th
According to a report released by the Cloud Security Alliance and Google Cloud, 55% of all organizations plan to use AI to boost security by 2025. The "State of AI and Security Survey Report," also found that 67% of organizations already tested and are pleased with AI-backed security capabilities.

CISA Systems Shut Down Due to Third-Party Breach – March 11th
Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) confirmed that two of its systems were voluntarily shut down due to a breach stemming from Ivanti vulnerabilities last month. Despite the successful attack mitigation, CISA claims to upgrade and modernize its systems to avoid breaches of this nature in the future.
CISA and FBI Release IOCs Associated with Androxgh0st Malware – January 17th
The Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) released a joint cybersecurity advisory (CSA) containing the Indicators of Compromise (IOC) associated with the Androxgh0st malware. The joint CSA also contained the dangerous Androxgh0st malware tactics, techniques, and procedures associated with the malware's threat actors. The malware establishes a botnet for victim identification, exploits vulnerable networks, targets the theft of sensitive data, and may lead to remote code execution.
