Stanford University announced that the personal information of 27,000 individuals was stolen as a result of a September 2023 ransomware attack.
The University also disclosed that only one system was breached, namely the “Department of Public Safety” network. The data included biometric data, dates of birth, social security numbers, government IDs, passport numbers, and driver’s license numbers.
Google has warned users of Android devices to take specific precautionary measures to prevent malware infection. This warning comes after a reported increase in malware aimed at stealing information and money.
Precautionary measures advised by the service provider include turning on Google Play Protect, updating software, and removing untrusted apps.

Hackers violated the site’s hot wallets, taking the cryptocurrency, with CoinEx reassuring that user assets had not been impacted by the incident.
According to a study conducted in June, “Threat intelligence: Eyes on the enemy,” by threat intelligence firm Cyber Risk Analytics (CRA), vulnerability priority is the chief use of threat intelligence for 70 percent of the study’s respondents; 65 percent of those respondents also stated that they are starting to use threat intelligence to aid them with reactive incident response. By contrast, proactive measures still rank low on the list of primary uses for threat intelligence where most organizations are concerned, with 50 percent of respondents using threat intelligence for threat hunting and 46 percent, fewer than half, using actionable threat intelligence providing advanced warning against future attacks.
