Experts warn of new ‘polyglot’ malware

Cybersecurity experts have warned about a new malicious Microsoft Word file, dubbed MalDoc in PDF. The malware file is able to be opened in Word, even though it is structured as a PDF, making it a ‘polyglot’ file. It exploits vulnerabilities by embedding itself in Word documents.

Reports highlight one trillion IT events detected and neutralized by AI-driven analysis

Barracuda Networks research has highlighted the might of AI technology in thwarting cyber attacks. The company recently revealed impressive results for the first half of this year, showing that the AI-driven pattern analysis tools employed by the company for cybersecurity purposes had successfully detected and neutralized nearly one trillion IT events.

Suspects in dangerous Northern Ireland police data breach arrested

On Sunday, two suspects – a 21 and 22-year-old – were arrested under the country’s terrorism act for actions related to the leak of 10,000 officers and staff members’ names back in August. This is the fourth arrest related to the leak, which was mistakenly posted by Northern Ireland police themselves. Past charges leveled at those arrested in relation to the leak include gathering information that would be useful for terrorists. The Police have previously confirmed that the list is in the hands of dissident republicans.
