Russian threat actors target the Ukrainian military
US and UK intelligence agencies have issued a joint warning following the discovery of a new malware – called Infamous Chisel – being used by Russian threat actors, specifically to target Ukrainian military personnel.
The new malware has been deployed to target Android devices and is primarily engineered to target crypto wallets and exchanges. It can also scan files, monitor network traffic, and extract sensitive data from mobile devices.
Browser-hacking malware found on the phones of Xiaomi users
Controversial claims by users of Xiaomi smartphones say that malware has been installed on the phone. Named Mintnav, the malware purportedly hacks the Chrome browser.
Reports state it is still unclear how the ‘unknown program’ made its way onto the phones.
Sensitive data dumped by LockBit threat actors
A LockBit ransomware operation has reportedly leaked data from a company called Zaun, a supplier linked to the UK’s Ministry of Defence (MoD). Authorities called the breach and data dump, ‘potentially very damaging’ to the security of some sensitive sites.
LockBit may have exfiltrated around 10GB of data – 74 percent of the company’s computer system’s stored data. As a result, valuable historic emails, orders, project files, and drawings could have potentially been accessed by threat actors.
