SpyCloud Raised $35M Funding Round

Today, SpyCloud announced that it raised $35M in funding, led by CIBC Innovation Banking, to bolster its offerings to prevent cybercrime.

To date, SpyCloud has raised approximately $168M in VC funding and growth equity, including a raise of $110M in August last year.

 

Seven AI Raises a $36M Financing Round

After raising a pre-seed round last September that boosted its valuation to $100M, Seven AI raised another $36M in a financing round also led by Greylock Partners.

Seven AI is developing AI-based software that hunts for cyber threats autonomously and conducts live investigations, reducing the burden on security teams.

 

Bangladeshi Police Officer Caught Selling Citizen Data on Telegram

In late April, the Brigadier General of Bandladesh’s NTMC announced that two police officers had been caught selling citizen data on Telegram.

Bangladeshi officials said the data allegedly sold included national identity details of citizens, cell phone call records, and other “classified secret information.”

Over half of cyber-attacks are state-sponsored

Over half of cyber-attacks exploiting known vulnerabilities are the work of state-sponsored groups from abroad, mainly from China. According to cybersecurity company Recorded Future’s research arm, Insikt Group, 53 percent of observed exploitation activity in the first half of this year was driven by state-sponsored and suspected state-sponsored actors and conducted for espionage, surveillance, or other geopolitical objectives.
