Ukrainian Hacks Accounts to Mine $2M in Crypto – January 15th

Russians Not Responsible For 2023 Danish Energy Sector Attacks

Further investigations by Forescout on the 2023 cyberattacks on 11 Danish energy sector corporations dating from May 11-31 found that these were not conducted by previously believed suspects, Russian nation-state threat actor group, Sandworm.

The examinations of these Danish energy sector attacks found the two waves of the attacks to be unrelated, and very unlikely to be Russian-linked, instead were part of a broader mass exploitation campaign on the previously unpatched Zyxel firewalls.

Ukrainian Hacks Accounts to Mine $2M in Crypto

A now arrested Ukrainian-based hacker infiltrated cloud-computing accounts to create over 1M virtual servers to mine $2M worth of cryptocurrencies, Europol announced.

The Europol investigation shed light on the dangers behind cloud computer hijacking campaigns used for large-scale illicit crypto mining.

Inspiring Vacations Data Leak Places Thousands of Tourists’ Information at Risk

Australian travel agency, Inspiring Vacations suffered a recent data leak resulting from a cyber attack, leaving 112,605 tourists at risk, according to cybersecurity researcher, Jeremiah Fowler.

The stolen information contains high-res passport images, visa certificates, and travel itineraries and impacts tourists from Australia, New Zealand, the United Kingdom, and Ireland.
