Arriving just a month after a paid ransom was demanded following the massive data breach in February 2024, Change Healthcare reported on another potential cyberattack: extortion from the “ransomhub” group.

Initiated by the new “ransomhub” group, with suspected connections to BlackCat, the double-extortion claim has yet to be confirmed by cybersecurity experts.

Cyera Raised $300M in Series C Funding

Cyera raised $300M in Series C funding, bringing its valuation to $1.4B, making it the latest unicorn in cybersecurity. The funding round was led by Coatue and included new investors from Spark Capital, Georgian, and AT&T Ventures.

Cyera aims to use the new funding round to fill gaps in AI-led security initiatives for some of the largest global corporations.

China and North Korea Ramp Up Global Election Misinformation Campaigns

According to Microsoft’s latest Threat Intelligence Report, both China and North Korea are ramping up election misinformation campaigns in the U.S., South Korea, India, and Taiwan by leveraging AI-generated content.

The Microsoft report dives into the specific use of AI-generated content for misinformation, which encompasses videos, memes, and fake news anchors as a hook to sway the beliefs of the masses in these target countries.
