Cyber Consultant Claims Universities are More Vulnerable to Cyber Attacks
Highlighting the severity of the University of Winnipeg data breach, Cybersecurity consultant Kathy Knight asserts that the education sector is one of the most vulnerable to cyber attacks, potentially leading to significant data loss and privacy breaches.
“The thing about universities is they’re very big, complex institutions … and they collect a lot of information and data that is very attractive to cyber criminals. So that puts them really, at the top of the list, in terms of attack targets,” she said.
U.S. Reconsiders International Surveillance Program
The U.S. government is to review the surveillance program known as “Section 702 of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act,” which expires on April 19th.
Now facing scrutiny due to data privacy concerns, the surveillance program would permit the U.S. government to collect data from non-Americans located outside the country without a warrant for the main purpose of foreign intelligence.

Google filed a lawsuit against two app developers for building fake Android apps published on the Google Play Store, designed to steal funds via investment fraud.
The two suspects, Yunfeng Sun and Hongnam Cheung, have uploaded a staggering 87 fraudulent crypto-related apps since 2019, with 100,000 downloads and thousands of victims.
