Security Flaws Found in ChatGPT Plugins – March 15th

Ireland’s Health Service Industry Exposed Millions of Patient Data in 2021

According to AppOmni, Ireland’s Health Service Executive (HSE) accidentally exposed millions of Irish patient data in 2021 during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The patient data most notably included the vaccine status and vaccination type received. The data leak was caused by a misconfiguration in the HSE portal, which made internal documents publicly available.

Security Flaws Found in ChatGPT Plugins

According to Salt Labs research, third-party OpenAI ChatGPT plugin security flaws could allow attackers to install malicious plugins, and hijack third-party website accounts.

Leveraging security gaps in ChatGPT plugins’ large language models (LLMs), OAuth workflow, and PluginLab both feature weaponizable vulnerabilities.

709M Phishing Attacks Blocked in 2023

According to a Kaspersky report, 709 million phishing attacks were blocked in 2023, a 40% increase compared to 2022.

The Kaspersky report suggests that the growth in phishing is largely due to travel scams, which leverage fraudulent hotel deals and airline tickets.
