US Consumers Receive 2B Spam Calls Monthly
According to Truecaller, US consumers were faced with two billion spam calls per month.
Truecaller’s Monthly US Spam and Scam Report also unveiled that around 195 million hours were wasted by answering these scam calls. The goal of these scam calls is to carry out credit card fraud, identity theft, and sensitive data collection.
Ukrainian Ransomware Operation Dismantled by Law Enforcement
In a joint operation by Europol, Eurojust, alongside law enforcement agencies from seven countries, the Ukranian-based leader of a widespread ransomware operation was apprehended, thus dismantling the cybercrime group.
Said to be affiliated with other ransomware groups, including the Five Families Collective, the Ukranian ransomware operation encrypted more than 250 servers belonging to major corporations.
Google Chrome Addresses Zero-Day Vulnerability
Google rolled out security updates to address seven security issues on its Chrome browser, including the high-severity CVE-2023-6345 vulnerability.
Discovered by Google’s Threat Analysis Group (TAG) on November 24th, the zero-day vulnerability potentially allowed attackers to compromise renderer processes to perform a sandbox escape via a crafted HTML page.
