Legal Action Taken Against Citibank for Failure to Protect Fraud Victims
Letitia James, New York’s Attorney General, filed a case against Citibank for failing to protect and reimburse online fraud victims.
The fraud cases reported as part of the legal action filed include accessing Citibank customers’ bank accounts through social engineering tactics, resulting in changed passwords and making large wire transfers.

USB Malware Chain Spreads to News Sites
Mandiant unveiled a USB-initiated malware payload found to have abused legitimate news and media platforms such as Vimeo and Ars Technica to host encoded payloads in benign content.
Starting from an unknown string of USB device payload distribution, which initially spread to Italian-focused media platforms through hidden encoded text. Mandiant has tracked the hackers responsible for the attack as ‘UNC4990’.
