Alarming surge in Kenyan cyber attacks recorded
The Kenyan communications regulator has announced it has recorded 860-million cyber attacks this past year.
Concerns have been raised over the increasing frequency and sophistication of the attacks. Many of these have targeted the country’s critical infrastructure.
The Weather Network refuses ransomware demands
The parent company of The Weather Network, recently targeted in a ransomware attack, is holding its ground and refuses to pay threat actors their ransom demands.
The company’s services to Canada and Spain were affected last month when its servers were encrypted and its data were stolen. The Weather Network’s parent company’s engineers have since been working to restore its systems.
Scattered Spider suspected to be behind Clorox Co breach
The hacker group behind the recent breaches of major casino companies, called Scattered Spider, is suspected to be behind a recent attack against Clorox Co in Malaysia.
The Clorox Co. breach has led to a nationwide shortage of cleaning products and displays the same social-engineering tactics of Scattered Spider.
