Warning on Rhysida Ransomware from the FBI and CISA
The US Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA), and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) issued a warning on the widespread ransomware, Rhysida.
Kaspersky revealed Rhysida threat actors to use the Lumar infostealer malware to carry out a widespread string of ransomware attacks. Forta also unveiled that Rhysida’s recent campaign is focused on the healthcare sector, where they encrypt active directories as leverage to demand a ransom from the victims.
Pittsburgh-area Water Authority Hit by Cyber Attack
The Municipal Water Authority of Aliquippa reported a cyberattack that shut down their water pressure technology, to the U.S. Department of Homeland Security this past weekend.
According to the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, the unassuming cyberattack may come with serious international implications, with the attack suspected to come from an anti-Israeli Iranian threat actor group labeled as “Cyber Av3ngers”. This nation-state cyberattack is not the first to disrupt critical water infrastructure.
Henry Schein’s Website Disrupted by Cyber Attack
Henry Schein announced it is working to get its e-commerce platform back up, after being hit by a cyberattack claimed by ransomware gang ALPHV/BlackCat.
Henry Schein reported the cyberattack to have encrypted 35TB of sensitive data. The company also stated that it is already racking up an estimated $150M in losses. The Henry Schein cyberattack is one of the first health tech sector attacks since the SEC implemented the four-day cyberattack disclosure rule.
