Chinese cyberespionage group deploys new malware
A group of hackers tracked as UNC4841 and suspected to be serving the interests of the Chinese government have deployed new malware to hack Barracuda Email Security Gateway appliances. Reports say the hacker group first started compromising Barracuda ESG devices in November 2022 and has shown sophistication in their response to remediation efforts, creating tools in advance to remain embedded in their high-value targets.
New Android malware, MMRat, can unlock phones
A new Android malware has been created by hackers to remotely wake up smartphones and unlock screens. As a result, data can be stolen and bank accounts breached.
The new malware has been called MMRat and is often distributed through fake websites ‘posing’ as official app stores.
