Reports show that phishing and malware attacks have spiked by 173% and 110% respectively in the third quarter of this year, compared with the second quarter of the year.
A staggering 493.2 million phishing attacks and 125.7 million malware attacks were logged during this period.
Pro-Ukrainian hacktivists claim Trigona’s takedown
A group of hackers supporting Ukrainian causes have claimed to be behind the wiping out of the servers belonging to the Trigona ransomware gang.
The Trigona group is allegedly linked to the Russian criminal underground. The pro-Ukrainian group called themselves the ‘Ukrainian Cyber Alliance’ in a message left on the Trigona ransomware group’s server.
Russian and Chinese threat actors discovered exploiting security flaw
State-backed threat actors from Russia and China have been discovered exploiting a WinRAR security flaw in Windows to conduct their operations.
Reports say the flaw is allowing the threat actors to deploy a malicious code when users click on a ZIP file to view its contents.
