Malware Found to Evade Ukranian Detection for 9 Years – April 18th

UK Police Dismantles the LabHost Phishing Operation

The UK Police announced that they had successfully infiltrated and dismantled the ‘LabHost’ phishing-as-a-service (PhaaS) operation, said to have gathered over £1M from victims.

Since its inception in 2021, LabHost has hosted over 40,000 phishing sites, utilized by over 2,000 cyber criminals through offering phishing and smishing (SMS phishing) campaigns.

Malware Found to Evade Ukranian Detection for 9 Years

Cisco Talos revealed its findings, showing that select Ukranian government agencies have been infected with the ‘OfflRouter’ malware since 2015.

Cisco Talos researcher, Vanja Svajcer said. “The virus is still active in Ukraine and is causing potentially confidential documents to be uploaded to publicly accessible document repositories.”

‘Cheat Lab’ Luring Gamers to Spread Malware

McAfee researchers released a report that uncovers the fake ‘Cheat Lab’, which poses as a game cheat and promises users a free copy if they convince friends to install it. 

Linked with the Redline malware, ‘Cheat Labs’ is a tool for harvesting information from affected systems to steal passwords, cookies, autofill information, and crypto wallet information.
