New Xenomorph campaign targets crypto wallets
Cybersecurity company, ThreatFabric discovered a new campaign targeting US financial institutions and cryptocurrency wallets using the Xenomorph Android malware in mid-August.
Xenomorph has been threatening banking institutions since 2022 and has been called one of the top ten most prolific banking trojans.
Royal threat actors kept a low profile before making their move
The Dallas City Hall has reported on a spree of ransomware attacks targeting Dallas’ metro systems have revealed the Royal Ransomware group ‘lurked’ in the systems for weeks before making their move.
The group of threat actors allegedly gained access to the systems on April 7, before deploying their ransomware on May 3. By the time the attack was brought to light, the damage was already widespread.
Hack costs Mixin Network $200M
Dubbed the ‘biggest hack of the year’, the recent attack on Hong Kong-based digital wallet company, Mixin Network has cost the company $200 million worth of crypto assets.
Network authorities have announced that deposits and withdrawals on the site will only recommence once all vulnerabilities have been confirmed and fixed.
