Government Vulnerabilities Grow by 151%
According to a Bugcrowd report, no other sector saw as much vulnerability growth as the government sector, which saw a 151% surge and a 58% rise in critical vulnerabilities.
Following the government sector were the retail (+34%), corporate services (+20%), and computer software (+12%) sectors.
$1.7B Stolen from Crypto Hacks in 2023
According to a report by Chainalysis, a total estimate of $1.7B worth of cryptocurrencies was stolen from 231 crypto platforms, a significant decrease compared to the $3.7B stolen in 2022.
Chainalysis credits the significant drop in crypto theft this past year to the rise in decentralized financial systems, also known as DeFi.
Turkish Hacktivists Flash Messages of Anti-Semitism in Israeli Movie Theatre
According to Dark Reading, the digital signage inside a popular Israeli movie theatre was hacked by the Turkish hacktivist group ‘MeshSec’ to display anti-semite messages relating to the Israel-Hamas war.
Gil Messing, Chief of Staff of Check Point Security adds that the digital signage was likely hacked through unprotected internet connections.
