Financial Sector Sees Most Cyberattacks in 2023
Based on a Netwrix survey, the financial sector in 2023 experienced the most cyberattacks among any other sector in 2023.
Surveying 1,610 IT and security professionals from more than 100 countries, the survey also revealed phishing and malware to be the most common attacks across all sectors.
Comcast Reveals Xfinity Data Breach
Comcast revealed a major data breach on Xfinity, placing nearly 36 million US accounts at risk from a third-party provider, Citrix.
Comcast released a statement on the cyberattack, stating this is undergoing investigation with law enforcement agencies, and that they are currently unaware of customer information being leaked or used for further attacks.
‘AlphaV’ Threatens to Leak PriceSmart Data
AlphaV threatened to release previously exfiltrated PriceSmart data within the week.
The ‘AlphaV’ threat comes as a direct response to law enforcement shutting down the threat actor group’s darkweb site, in coordination with the United States Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of Florida, the Computer Crime and Intellectual Property Section of the Department of Justice, with substantial assistance from Europol and Zentrale Kriminalinspektion Göttingen.
