LockBit Demands $11M From Spanish City
The government office of Calvia, Majorca, Spain announced that the city is facing a ransomware attack from the LockBit ransomware group, which is demanding $11M from the Spanish city.
Calvia’s Mayor, Juan Antonio Amengual claims that the city will not succumb to the ransomware group’s demands.
DDoS Attack on Pennsylvania Fails to Halt City Government
Officials from the Administrative Office of Pennsylvania Courts announced their website was hit by a Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) attack, which the city says did not compromise data or halt government operations.
The attack is now being investigated by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security and the Federal Bureau of Investigation to uncover the hackers behind the attack and to ensure it is not a symptom of a larger-scale ransomware attack.
Ransomware Attack Cost Clorox $49M
Revealed by a new SEC filing, Clorox spent an accumulated $49M as a result of the ransomware attack discovered on August 14, 2023.
The damages spanned from August to December of 2023, and the expenses consisted of third-party consulting services, incremental operating costs, and business disruption from the attack.
