Chinese Malware Breaches Dutch Defense Department
Specialists from the Netherlands’ Military Intelligence and Security Service (MIVD) and the General Intelligence and Security Service (AIVD) announced a Chinese nation-state-sponsored malware ‘Coathanger’ and its breach on the Dutch Ministry of Defense (MoD).
The stealthy ‘Coathanger’ malware’s code revealed a remote access trojan (RAT) specifically built to infiltrate Fortinet’s FortiGate firewalls through the ‘CVE-2022-42475’ vulnerability, which resulted in stolen user account credentials from the Dutch MoD’s servers.
Viamedis Cyberattack Exposes Millions of French Healthcare Data
A Viamedis announcement via LinkedIn warned its customers of a data breach as a result of a cyberattack, leaving millions of sensitive French credentials at risk.
Viamedis is currently working with public prosecutors and local authorities to investigate the impact of the attack. However, Viamedis assures its customers that their banking information, postal details, telephone numbers, and email addresses are not stored on the breached systems.
Cyberattack Shuts Down Chicago Children’s Hospital Systems
North Suburban Pediatrics, a Chicago-based children’s hospital announced their systems shut down by a cyberattack. Despite the difficulty of reaching electronic records, the hospital remains operational.
Investigations on the motive and nature of the cyberattack are still in progress. The attack on North Suburban Pediatrics is one of the many recently reported US healthcare cyberattacks.
