Chinese ‘Earth Krahang’ Group Compromised 70 Organizations – March 20th

Pokemon Reset Account Passwords Due to Breach Attempts

The Pokemon Company announced that it detected a large number of breach attempts on its users and reset the affected account passwords.

Daniel Benkwitt, The Pokemon Company’s spokesperson, clarified that no breaches were made and that the account resets were just a precautionary measure taken after detected breach attempts.

Successful Cloud-Based RAT Campaign Discovered

FortiGuard Labs uncovered a phishing campaign that spreads remote access trojans (RAT) by luring victims to download a malicious Java downloader from the threat actors’ Amazon Web Services servers.

The phishing campaign’s target is to spread the “VCURMS” and “STRRAT” RATs through believable emails. Once the payload is downloaded, malicious programs are deployed using layered obfuscation techniques.

Chinese ‘Earth Krahang’ Group Compromised 70 Organizations

Trend Micro reported on an advanced persistent threat actor linked to the Chinese government called ‘Earth Krahang’, compromising over 70 organizations, with a focus on governments.

Focusing on cyber espionage, ‘Earth Krahang’ and its attacks target government agencies, affecting 48 government organizations across Asia, the Americas, Europe, and Africa.
