Chinese hacker group Budworm has been using cyber-espionage malware to target a telecommunications company in the Middle East and an Asian government organization.
Reports say attacks have been orchestrated through a new variant of the group’s SysUpdate backdoor malware, and that telecommunication companies have become a common target for hacking groups.
12 threat actors face the law for malware-related theft
Singaporean police have arrested 12 men for their alleged involvement in a recent spate of banking-related malware cases. It is suspected that victims were fooled into downloading malicious content under the pretext of paying for bogus products or services, according to reports.
The men are aged between 21 and 36 and their arrest was accompanied by the seizing of two laptops, 23 mobile devices, $13,000, 32 bank cards, and a knife.
