Email forwarding flaws could impact tens of thousands of domains

 

Computer scientists from the University of California, San Diego have released research results showing that sending an email with a forged address is easier than previously thought.

The primary issue is due to flaws in the process of email forwarding and could have broad implications, as it can affect the integrity of the emails sent from tens of thousands of domains.

 

Sri Lankan ransomware attack causes severe governmental data loss

 

The Information and Communication Technology Agency (ICTA) has confirmed a ‘severe’ data loss in an attack affecting government offices using the ‘gov.lk’ email domain.

The data loss is believed to have been the result of a large-scale ransomware attack occurring between May and August this year.

Pune, India has seen a 16% spike in cyberattack cases in just eight months, according to reports.

In the first eight months of this year, over 22,000 cases of cybercrime in the area were reported. This rise in cybercrime incidents comes shortly after technology analysts from the IDC (International Data Corporation) reported that almost three-quarters of businesses in India experienced ransomware attacks last year.
