APAC Organizations Unable to Prevent 41% of Cyberattacks
In a study by Forrester in collaboration with exposure management company, Tenable found that companies in the Asia Pacific region could not prevent 41% of cyberattacks within the past two years.
The APAC edition of the report “Old Habits Die Hard: How People, Process and Technology Challenges Are Hurting Cybersecurity” was based on a survey consisting of 219 cybersecurity leaders in APAC.
Open Source Malicious NPM Packages Discovered
Software supply chain security firm, Phylum has discovered 48 malicious Node Package Manager (NPM) files in an NPM repository, demonstrating the risks of open-source ecosystems.
These packages, published by threat actor “hktalent” have been uploaded into the NPM repository, which was found to deploy a reverse shell on compromised systems that have installed the package, which is designed to siphon sensitive data.
Mr. Cooper, Mortgage and Loan Firm Hit by Cyber Attacks
Mr. Cooper, a mortgage and loan giant has announced an ongoing outage due to a cyber attack, placing its 4.1 million customers at risk.
Mr. Cooper has reportedly taken the necessary actions, together with federal regulators to resolve the issue, and assures its customers will not incur any fees. Investigations of the cyber attack on Mr. Cooper are ongoing, to see if any customer data has been compromised.
