94% of Organizations Experienced Email Security Incidents in 2023
Egress revealed in a report that 94% of cybersecurity leaders disclosed that their organization experienced phishing attacks through illicit emails in 2023, a 2% increase compared to 2022.
The Egress report entitled the “2024 Email Security Risk Report” gathered data by surveying 500 security leaders globally. The survey also revealed that phishing attacks have significant HR implications within organizations, with 51% of employees caught in phishing attacks undergoing disciplinary action, 39% getting fired, and 27% eventually leaving their roles.
Clearview Lost $1.5M From Compromised Email Attack
Clearview, in a recent public update, disclosed experiencing a cyber incident through a compromised company email address, resulting in a transfer amounting to $1.5M to be redirected to a fake third-party account.
The Clearview cyber incident took place in December 2023 and is still being investigated, together with third-party experts and law enforcement agencies. However, Clearview is expecting not to be able to retrieve the funds due to the nature of the attack.
CISA and FBI Release IOCs Associated with Androxgh0st Malware
The Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) released a joint cybersecurity advisory (CSA) containing the Indicators of Compromise (IOC) associated with the Androxgh0st malware.
The joint CSA also contained the dangerous Androxgh0st malware tactics, techniques, and procedures associated with the malware’s threat actors. The malware establishes a botnet for victim identification, exploits vulnerable networks, targets the theft of sensitive data, and may lead to remote code execution.
