Biggest malware culprits of 2023 – August 29th

New updated KmsdBot now targets Internet of Things (IoT)

An updated version of KmsdBot now includes support for Telnet scanning and more CPU architectures, making it more destructive than before. As a result of its increased capabilities, the updated botnet malware is now targeting the Internet of Things (IoT).

Main 2023 malware culprits identified

Malware loaders SocGholish, QBot, and Raspberry Robin have been named as the instigators behind 80 percent of noted malware attacks on networks and computers this year.

Cyber analysts have predicted further development in these loaders in the remaining months of 2023, through organizational mitigation and collaboration among threat actors.

Threat actors take advantage of Lockbit source code leak

Multiple threat actors are now using the source code for Lockbit v3 or Lockbit Black after the builder for this variant was leaked online in September 2022, says a Security Affairs report.

The leak of the ransomware builder has enabled threat actors to create their own variants.
