$7.3-million lost through Android phone hacks
Singaporean police have warned Android phone users of a new malware variant that is capable of resetting Android phones to factory settings. Reports say that more than $7.3 million has been lost through threat actors using the malware variant. The malicious code is hidden in social media posts, advertising the sale of different items. It is then downloaded when the applicant clicks on the link to make a payment.
Search warrants issued for DoppelPaymer ransomware gang
Search warrants have been issued for the DoppelPaymer ransomware group in Germany and Ukraine. This move has been the result of collaboration between the German Police and the US Secret Service.
The search warrants issued follows the recent arrest of two of the gang members in March and a seizing of their computer equipment, through a joint effort by numerous German, Ukrainian, Dutch, and US security forces.
Ukrainian hacker group hailed as suspects in recent Free Download Manager attack
Investigations into a spree of Free Download Manager (FDM) attacks between 2020 and 2022 have revealed the culprits to be a Ukrainian hacker group.
The threat actors targeted FDM, through exploiting a vulnerability on the site to tamper with the download page. They then used this page as a platform to distribute malicious Linux software.
