167% Rise in Malicious Bot Attacks Reported
Arkose Labs reported a 167% rise in malicious bot attacks for the first half of 2023.
The Arkose Labs report focused on bots also stated that 73% of all website and app traffic measured consists of malicious bots. These malicious bots help threat actors initiate cyber attacks such as; SMS toll fraud, web scraping, card testing, and credential stuffing.
North Korean CyberLink Trojan Attacks Spread
Microsoft’s Threat Intelligence team released an analysis on a North Korean nation-state-backed trojan supply chain attack, impersonating Taiwanese software CyberLink.
The malicious file crafted by a North Korean-backed threat actor group labeled as “Diamond Sleet” is said to impersonate CyberLink downloads, decrypts, and loads a second-stage payload to unsuspecting enterprise customers. The cyber campaign is said to have affected over 100 devices across Japan, Taiwan, Canada, and the US.
Kansas Courts Confirm Data Leak
The Kansas Judicial Branch provided an update on a cyber attack it suffered last month, stating that the threat actors behind the attack successfully stole sensitive data from its systems.
The ransomware attack affected the Kansas Courts’ eFiling system, electric payment systems, and case management systems, among others. The data stolen is currently being investigated, and the affected systems are now offline.
